The Grey Queen, by Russell Thorp

On that misty isle,
the Grey Queen sits,
In a tall tower's window by the bay,
Never aging,
always waiting,
spinning loom by night and day.

On that misty isle,
the Grey Queen spins,
Ever near the Lovaine shore,
Never speaking,
Always spinning,
A silent vigil forever more..

On that misty isle,
The Grey Queen waits,
for curious sailors who heed no warning
Never returning,
always yearning,
For fair Avalon's shores and the light of morning.

A note from the author:
This poem is based on the Isle of the Grey Queen, an
island off the coast of Lovaine, a province of Avalon.
The following excerpt was taken from the 7th Sea GM's
guide and is copyright AEG:

"In a tall tower that overlooks the bay, a woman who
has never aged looks down on Avalon as she sits at a
loom and spins. Sailors have reported this isle all
around Avalon, though it never moves from its location
off the coast of Lovaine. No man who has sailed to
this island has returned, and for a century, none have
tried it. It is said that the Grey Queen may be a
bansidhe or something even more terrible, though none
can say for certain."
