Songs

These next 5 songs (Carleon Boat Song, Morning Glory, Sailor's Prayer, Ten Thousand Miles Away, and Royal Oak) were originally lyrics to some songs that friends of Rob's, The Corsairs, sing at a faire that he attends. He wrote them down and sent them to our group because he realized that they, with some modifications, would fit our campaign. The modifications were done by Rob.

"Carleon Boat Song"
This is a song about sailors returning home from a long journey.

"Morning Glory"
A sailor's 'love' song? This sailor loved many apparently...

"Sailor's Prayer"
A sailor's prayer for hope in the face of insurmountable odds.

"Ten Thousand Miles Away"
This is a song about a sailor just starting a journey who knows he will be gone a long, long time. He sings that he will never forget his Love.

"Royal Oak"
A ship, The Royal Oak, is vastly outnumbered but vanquishes her foes!

"Jackie"
This song is from the Sinead O'Conner album "The Lion and the Cobra". It is an adaptation of an earlier tradition sea song. The original author is unknown. It tells the tale of a woman who waits for her lover to come home from sea though he is hopelessly lost. She looks for him even after her own death, forever more walking the shore waiting for his return...

"The Inish Girl"
This song is from the 18th century (real Earth...). The author is unknown. I have decided to make some adjustments so that it would fit with 7th Sea. I think I shall be doing similar things in the future as a nice "feel" for the website.

"The Castillian Lady"
This song is also from "real Earth". As before I have decided to make some adjustments so that it would fit with 7th Sea. Having posted "The Inish Girl", "The Castillian Lady" seemed appropriate to post next (to start a theme).

"The Women All Tell Me"
Another adapton of an old Earth Song. This song is compares the advantages of alcohol over women. Not necessarily in the same vain as the others but a good drinking song, nevertheless

"The Blind Harper"
The original author of this song is unknown. It has been altered a good deal by me (Russell) to fit into 7th Sea.

"Sir Patrick Spence"
An old Scottish sea ballad, altered by me to fit the High Marches.

"Folk of the Plaid"
An old Irish war song altered by Jennifer to fit Theah.

"When I Love"
An old song altered by Jennifer to fit Theah. This one originally was sung from the male point of view but she altered it so that it is sung by a woman. If you want to change it back, just put "Lad" instead of "Lass", etc., and enjoy!

"Bewitched", by Walter De La Mare

"Changeling", by Leah Bodine Drake

"The Counting Man", by William Vaughn Moody

"Elfin Song", by Joseph Rodman Drake

"Fairies' Song", by Leigh Hunt"

"Overheard on a Salt Mash", by Harold Monroe

"Behind the Waterfall" by Winifred Welles

"Me & Bloody Bonnie McGee" by a Reis? This was sung to me first in The Powder Keg by a bard named Janice. (There has recently been a thread on the 7th Sea GM's list that hints that there may have been a romantic tie between Reis and Bloody Bonnie McGee.) This song is sung from Reis' perspective and tells a sad tale of their lost love... *SMILE*

Visit http://www.contemplator.com/folk.html for an exauhstive list of folk music from England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and America.
