Valliere, Journal Entry Three

The Sewers

We found the spot that Anna the Vodacce woman directed us to and found her there with someone I recognized. Princess Dominique, youngest daughter of Le Emperor and with whom I played once as a child! She told us that it was she who summoned the help of the Rose and Cross. This then was our first mission from them. She needed us to deliver a message to her husband who commanded the army that was leading Montaigne against Ussura. She right or wrong presumed upon our honor in revealing all to us and then asking if we would accept her mission. The Castillian earned no favor with me when he then suggested that he might not accept the mission! I can understand a Castillians feeling toward a Montaigne but it should be obvious that a mission such as this goes beyond national pride. Thankfully he quieted his protests and decided to go along with us else either he or I would not have left that place alive. That nearly happened however despite what I may have done for just as the princess gave to us the letter and a device to help us locate her man a contingent of guards rounded the corner. Anna and the Princes retreated through a secret door and the rest of us fled. It was a harrowing chase but we made it to safety. Tomorrow we will begin our mission.
