William's Response to Valliere's Letter in Heilgrund

Pierre/Valliere,

It is good to see that the ailments of your faithful manservant did not go unnoticed. Every time I prepare to dismiss you as a hopeless fop, ye seem to show a wee bit 'o character at the last moment. Please don't take this wrong, my friend, but you do make me worry at times.

Unfortunately, I didn't pull ye aside just to rib ye. This matter of travel back to Montaigne has me thinkin', and I can't see endangering poor Laurent or his family by leading Fellhand to your doorstep. I owe him more than that. I have yet to talk to Reynaldo about it... But I believe I can convince him to come with me and hopefully lead Fellhand away from ye, as ye travel. If that accursed blade 'o his does indeed have the power to put that daemon down, we can catch up with ye later.

It's just an idea, mind ye. We can talk about it as a group after we bungle our way through this blasted dinner tonight. There are too many foes that plague our travels, my friend. This business with Fellhand must end soon, or I fear each of us will fall one at a time, like our friends Pierto and Patrice did. But this business with the compass vexes me as well. Too many men do evil in this world, Legion take them...

Think of what I have said and we will talk of it again.

Sincerely,

William McCormick
