Latest Poetry Nathan Coppedge A SMEARY (OR SMEARED) HAIKU The coventry of errant crows the walking Styx, the infermenting fear the crescent ghost, the crushed grass elements descending from above and in the clouds, the hushed caress the grimace as of a whale bilging his excess vent waters Across the grass, in the clouds the marching sound as of the doves thrushing through the last seedling piles In the sand, over and above the entrenching of air-holes the lolling of a derelicted worm Upon the sound of an invisible stopwatch the resounding yell of school children who will not go to the beach. --1/7/06 Poems 2006 ==============Return to Poetry Main================= |
