This proves that on vacation I�ll see any movie that happens to be showing at the theater. Actually, I might not have seen it at all, except that Dad wanted to take a peek. I�ll admit that I was mildly intrigued by the decent reviews it has received, so why not? Cute girls surfing in swimsuits are always worth a look. And a stare. And an ogle.

You see why I was reluctant. It�s like flipping by a Cinemax movie on Friday night with friends in the room. All of you want to stop for a second, and all for the same reasons. But no one will admit it, so you keep flipping and land on SportsCenter instead to feel like real men. Dangit, though, you wonder if you�re missing some skin over on Cinemax.

So, with that, I put on my trenchcoat and slipped into Blue Crush with the half-dozen teen guys and gals in attendance. Maybe I should�ve slipped on some Skechers, pinch-rolled my jeans and put on a temporary tattoo of some Chinese figure to be cool. No?

Seen one chick surfing flick, you�ve seen them all. And this is the only one I�ve seen, so I suspect I�m done for a while. It�s the kind of film where you feel you could step in the ocean, catch a wave and be sittin� on top of the world.

PLOT: What, are you kidding? There was a plot? Did it matter? The whole thing was in the trailers all summer anyway, so why bother? Chicks surf, chick hopes to be the best, chicks and dudes party and be rebels while endearing themselves to the audience. End of story.

Some of the visuals a bit overboard in trying to milk the dramatics for all their worth, which really wasn�t worth much. We wanted surfing, babes and fun. Not so much did I want that much emotion. Also, some of the computer effects are a bit obvious and sloppy, but for the most part the close-ups on the waves were as crystal clear as the water itself.

The characters are all very likable (except for the surfer dude punks � but really, who cares about the males?), and the actresses very lovely in a surfer babe kind of way, not the Baywatch babe where everything comes across fake.

Overall, it�s not a bad guilty pleasure and warrants positive reviews. Surfs up from me!
