The Enlargement Alliance does not release their covers for profit, nor have they gotten proper permission from the owners. These are all purely for fun. Just like any musician covers songs, they did them mostly for personal reasons, over audience reasons, whether it's a deep lyrical message or for musicianship.

Band Biography   Back to Top

The Enlargement Alliance is a comedy "band" or better put, a duo musical project that was formed by Kevin and Alex, who started the project under alias Astroust and Imperializer in late 2012. This project was simply to entertain themselves with their own creativity. However, as their music grew they've become more and more open to other people listening to their material. Goofy inside-jokes were used and mixed into the lyrics. This was intended to show the strangeness of the group. There were also a lot of goofy audio skits of a little story or event that was written or imagined. In 2017, the duo decided to change their nicknames. Astroust became Sebatepta. Imperializer became Sunbuilder.

Sunbuilder (Left). Sebatepta (Right).

The two did everything and there is no set routine for how went about about making their music. In typical recording sessions, Sebatepta plays bass, drums, and fluts, while Sunbuilder plays guitar and programs the drum machine. Either of them may do the vocals separately or together on any given track depending on what their ideas are. Other times, members may change their typically used instruments such as on the Snaps LP when Sebatepta played keyboards primarily while Sunbuilder handled guitars, bass, and percussion. Some tracks are made completely independently by either member handling all of the instruments and vocals, while at other times, the tracks are made mostly by one member independently and added to later by another member in various ways from vocals to additional instrumentals, or all of the above. It really just depends on the material and the circumstances.

Music Genre:

The Enlargement Alliance plays whatever comes to them at any given point in time ranging anywhere from groovy psychedellic space rock to some fast and intense black/thrash metal. It is great because both founding members have a vast array of influences and inspiration which they combine and work together to do whatever comes naturally at any given moment whether they are recording together or separately. There is no official set genre. Although, most of the material may be considered some form of rock and metal, we never cared about having an official genre or label attached to the EA.

"We are glad to NOT be in the music business," they have both stated. Sometimes the influences and contributions are very obvious such as tracks or moments could easily have been featured on one of Sunbuilder's or Astroust's solo projects, while other tracks were inspired by a very influential artist to one of the members. Yet at other times, the music is all over the place and covers a variety of ground. More often than not, The Enlargement Alliance likes variety and does not stick to any specific genre although they can be generally classified as some sort of hybrid of rock and metal with varying degrees of other genres, sub-genres, influence, and we can go on but at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter anyways... music is music and that is what The Enlargement Alliance makes whether you like it or not!

Band History:

When the Moodie Floyds gave themselves their name, it was because Astroust thought it would be fun to create songs of their own. Music was a heavy topic discussed amongst the Moodie Floyds and now it was their turn to make some of their own. . . in private amongst themselves of course. And so, Astroust began recording what eventually became the songs: "Remembering Moodie Floyd" and "Candlestick." One day the Enlarger sat in class and was bored so he considered the idea that Astroust had brought to his attention about the Moodie Floyds so he began writing the song "Candlestick" which Astroust thought suited the second music piece he wrote. When he brought the two clips to the group, they recorded for the first time! After that night, the Moodie Floyds recorded together as a group only once more for the "NOUH Skit" and the song: "SIR! Very NOice." Other than that, the ex co-founding member and the Enlarger had begun to show a complete lack of interest and motivation for the band and in making any more music at all and that would have been the end for not only the Moodie Floyds, but also Astroust's strong desire and passion to have a fun band and record music.

Some time later that all changed when one day in the late Fall of 2012, Astroust met The Imperializer through The Enlarger and they both quickly discovered that they shared the same interest, passion, motivation, creativity, and overall hobby for making music. Shortly thereafter, new music started being made because Astroust and Imperialier were able to easily apply their creative and musical backgrounds into a new project and this time it was quite different and better than anything the Moodie Floyds have ever done. It all started when the Imperializer agreed to hold on to passed Moodie Floyd tracks that Astroust shared with him and to convert them into their work and then add to it; which it has immensely! Instead of continuing as the Moodie Floyds, Astroust and Imperializer agreed that it would be awesome to have a band under the same name as the group they are affiliated with... The Enlargement Alliance! They also figured that their new band can be a subset of the whole group which could even make music that represented the main group in one way or another. The two had spent almost a decade doing various creative hobbies and activities together, with the music part of the EA being the primary focus, having already created total of seven LPs, five EPs, three "live albums," and a double-sided compilation of many cover tracks. During the early years, Astroust and Imperializer had often tried to share the EA with their group of mutual friends and hoped that they would be interested and willing to participate. They quickly learned that the true heart and soul of the EA will always be just the two of them since nobody else was ever interested. Having accepted the way things are, and while busy with other things, Sebatepta (evolved from Astroust) and Sunbuilder (evolved from Imperializer) had continued to carry on the EA as a humorous music project with occasional goofy skits for as long as they could between 2012 up to 2019. However during the early 2020s, outside of re-recording some old material for better quality, the two have gotten a lot busier in their personal lives and with their other interests/hobbies and life priorities. Sunbuilder also admitted that he had completely lost all interest in the EA and that it was for the best that the two move on. We will always cherish the fun and good times that we had in 2012 up to 2015 and hope that others can enjoy the fun and creative material we made as it was a genuine reflection of who we were at the time in our lives. The sound and style of the EA can best be described as a blend of melodic hard rock and heavy metal with experiments in other generes (jazz, psychedelic rock, electronic, extreme metal, etc.) on different tracks.
