Like I stated in the introduction, I have also analyzed these films across different genres - actually media because what separates them creates a brand new medium. The four genres that I used for comparison were the Animated Musical, the Animated Comedy, Computer-Generated Animation, and Live Action integrated with Animation.

And you know what happens next. Disney is in denial.

Disney maintains its traditional ideas across four different platforms. This may seem easy, but it is actually pretty difficult. As computers and new special effects allow Disney to broaden its horizons and do what no one has ever done before, they recycle the same old story, put some new faces in it, and add plenty of beautiful landscapes to shush the critics.

For example, with Toy Story, Disney did something unprecedented: the first full-length computer generated motion picture. However, there is only one major female character, and her role is to entice the male characters. The male characters spend their time nursing their bruised egos but still try to impress the damsel in distress.

This happens because of the principles of media. A new medium borrows the codes and conventions of the medium that it 'came' from. These codes and conventions include the Disney ideology (all media contain values, beliefs, and ideologies) of the perfect gender roles. This is what makes passing the concept from one form to another so easy. This continues to happen because its a tried and tested formula for success - and all media have business interests.

Thanks for taking the time to explore the site! I know it was a bit long but I really liked the media issue that I chose and had to have something to show for a day's worth of Disney.
