Houston Comets Stole the win away from Seattle
Storm in front of a sold out crowds at Key Arena.
It was one of the most dissapointing lost for the Seattle Storm this season.
Sue Bird Bobbleheads night attracted more than 9000 fans, and she complemented
it with a high 21 points of the game. Everyone had been waiting for this
moment where the Storm is up by 1 point and possesses the ball with 16
seconds left on the shot clock. The crowds went wild, on their feet waiting
for a big celebration of breaking the franchise record of 11 wins in one
season. Unfortunately, one call changed the whole outcome as the star
of the night, Sue Bird lost possession of the ball to Sheryl Swoopes and
called for the foul. The players, coaches and crowds were stunned as the
Comets added one point to tie the game at 54-54 and had control of the
ball! Janeth Arcain came out big at crunch time and made the jump shot
to give her team a 2-points lead with 1.4 seconds left. Hopes were still
pretty much alive, but Lauren Jackson missed her shot as the buzzer went
off. Heartbreaking losses like tonight should be a great lesson for this
young team as they progresses to a better outlook in the future.
