Epilogue

"Cady, you're going to be late," Geoff said, walking into the foyer where she was leading a small tour group to the end of the tour.

Cady said good-bye to the group again then turned to her father. "I can't do it, Daddy!! Why should I even bother to audition? I'll never get picked!"

"You won't know unless you try," Geoff replied. "You promised Jerrid you'd be there to audition with the cast. You can't break that promise."

"But the museum is so busy today with the band being here and everything," Cady tried.

"I think I can manage to lead the tours myself until your sister-in-law gets here," Geoff replied. "Now go."

"Fine, but you better have a big selection of junk food waiting for me when I get home because I'm gonna be depressed."

"If that happens-which it won't, I'll make sure we're well stocked," Geoff said. "Break a leg, dear."

"Thanks, Daddy," she replied, giving him a hug.

"You're leavin, Cads?" said one of the regulars, Shelley, when she stepped onto the porch.

"Jerrid made me promise to audition," Cady explained. "You'll have to settle for Daddy today, I'm afraid."

"I think I can manage. Break a leg," Shelley replied.

"Thank you," Cady grinned, waving as she climbed into her Lincoln Navigator. "Cady Adams," she said answering her ringing cell phone.

"Cads, dear, it's Jerrid. Don't tell me you're skipping out on me."

"I'm not, Jerrid, I promise," she replied. "I'm on my way now and I'll be there in about five minutes."

"Good, everyone's waiting for you."

"Stress a girl out much?" Cady joked.

"Can I help it if everyone wants to see the next Cady Lynn?"

"Then why are they waiting for me? You know I'm not going to get it."

"You are too, dear," Jerrid insisted. "Who else could be Cady Lynn Andrews, but you?"

"I could give you a thousand names."

"You're the one who found the necklace," Jerrid reminded her. "It was a sign."

"Sure. Well I'm in the parking lot, so I'll let you go."

"All right, dear."

Cady paused outside of the hall, collecting her nerves. The room was all but empty when she came in.

"You didn't tell me I was the last to audition, Jerrid," she scolded the older man.

"You wouldn't've done it if you'd know," Matthew defended his lover.

"True," Cady nodded. "Can we get this over with? I want to go back to the museum and pretend to be the real Cady Lynn Andrews without anyone judging me."

"All right, I'll go get the other cast members," Matthew said. "Jerrid'll take you to say hello to the others."

"Sounds fair," Cady nodded, following Jerrid to the front of the hall.

"She's arrived," Jordan said. "Hello, Miss Cady Lynn."

"Hello, Jordan," she beamed at him. "It's nice to see you again."

"You too, dear. We've been waiting all day. We were going to go by the museum but James wouldn't let us."

"That's not very nice of you, James," Cady teased.

"If we went to the museum, we'd never had been able to get through the auditions because we'da already seen your audition," James replied, pulling the girl to him. "It's good to see you, dear."

"You too."

She said hello to the others and they chatted until Matthew returned with the people who'd already been cast. Cady covered her mouth when she saw who it was. She turned to look at Jerrid.

"You're a very mean old man," she whispered, turning back to look at the members of *NSYNC, Tony Lucca, and Britney Spears.

"Surprise," Jerrid grinned.

"Cady Adams, I'd like you to meet Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Tony Lucca, and Britney Spears," Matthew introduced.

"Nice to meet you," Cady managed to get out, shaking hands with each of them.

"Cady maybe almost as big of fans of you all as she is of us," Jerrid said.

"Don't mind Jerrid, he lives to embarrass Cady," Thad said, patting Cady on the back when she groaned.

"Jerrid, you be nice to Cady or she's gonna quit coming to see us," Matthew added.

"She'd never do that, she loves me too much," Jerrid replied. "So how about we get Cady's audition out of the way?"

"What should we read?" Justin asked.

"How about the scene after we got the record deal?" Connor suggested. "I've seen Cady read that a few times at the museum, it's a good one."

"You all are so mean to me," Cady pouted, rubbing the charm around her neck..

"Just get up there," Jerrid replied.

"Fine."

"All right, Lance, you go ahead a start from where you congratulate the band," James said.

"Okay," Lance nodded. "Congratulations, y'all! You did it!"

"I can't believe we actually got a record deal," Britney said.

"I can't believe we actually met The Beatles," Cady said using the voice she used at the museum.

"Is that all you can think about, Cady Lynn?" JC replied. "Any normal person would be all excited about getting a record deal and you're more focused on the fact that you met The Beatles."

"Fine, you want me excited about the contract?" Cady said, looking to the back of the room when the door opened. "I can't believe we actually did it!! We got a record deal! Go us!"

"Oh that was wonderful," exclaimed a voice from the back of the room. "I'm so glad we didn't miss all of little Cady Adam's audition!"

"We would've been here sooner, but Cady Lynn wanted to check out new shop downtown," apologized Beatrice, sitting down next to Jerrid and Matthew. "Sorry we interrupted, Cady, why don't you start again?"

Cady nodded. "Fine, you want me excited about the contract? I can't believe we actually did it! We got a record deal! Go us!"

"I almost felt like you meant it," Lance said.

"Y'all aren't doing the little things," Cady Lynn exclaimed. "You might as well practice the touches now!"

"I almost felt like you meant it," Lance tried again, placing a hand on Cady's shoulder. "A little more feeling and I would've bought it, Cad."

"Would-would you like me to try it again?" Cady said, stumbling over her lines as Lance touched her. "We did it, y'all! I can't believe we actually did it!"

"That was much more believable," Justin said, pulling Cady to him as directed in the script. "Any-anyone else might have actually believed it."

"Are you all right?" JC questioned.

"I-I just think they're right, she's the right person. I-we could work good with her," Lance said. "You can feel it when you touch her."

"Really? Let me-" Chris started.

"Please don't," Cady said stepping back.

"Okay so since you've officially scared Cady, how about we call it good and offer her the part?" Jerrid suggested.

"I'm with him," agreed the others.

"So, Cady?"

"I uh yah, okay. Thank you," she replied.

"Great," Cady Lynn smiled. "So how about we all go out for a bite to eat then Cady gives us a special private tour of the museum?"

"Yah, lets to do that!!" JC said. "I've heard a lot about that museum and I'd really like to see it."

"Have we met before?" Lance asked Cady as they exited the hall.

"I don't think so, and I'm pretty sure I'd remember meeting you," Cady replied.

"I just had a feeling when we touched that we had or something."

"Me too," she agreed.

"It's the same feeling I got when we arrived here, like I've been here before when I know I haven't."

"Maybe it's the script, I'm sure you've read it a few times, you really begin to feel like you're there after you've read it a few times," Cady suggested. "My friends at school would find me sitting in my dorm reading the script looking like I was somewhere else."

"In another time," Lance agreed. "Living their lives."

"Exactly," Cady nodded. "I swear I dreamt about it for weeks after I first read the script."

"Me too. They did a good job bring the script to life."

"They did," Cady said, getting into her car.
