Earned membership in the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society in middle school and high school. Remained on the honor roll every grading period in middle school with a 4.00 GPA and high school with a 3.65 GPA. Took Advance Placement classes in the Science and Technologies and the Law, Global Affairs, and Public Service Academies programs to earn my high school diploma. Involved with four years of classes and independent research, which included intensive sessions and peer discussions to earn a 3.65 GPA. Result: Earned the Maryland High School Certificate of Merit which is granted in addition to the Maryland High School Diploma to students who, while meeting all graduation requirements, successfully completed a rigorous program of study of which at least 12 credits were in advanced courses and the student achieved at least a 3.00 cumulative average on a 4.00 scale, and all mathematics courses were at the level of Algebra I/Data Analysis, Geometry, or beyond.
College Summer Intern to the United States Department of Justice, Departmental Ethics Office, Washington, DC, in the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). STEP is formerly known as the Stay-in-School Program and it allows the opportunity to gain experience in a wide area of fields. The Departmental Ethics Office, located in the Justice Management Division, is responsible for administering the Department-wide ethics program and for implementing Department-wide policies on ethics issues. The office provides advice and training directly to employees in the Justice Management Division, the Office of Public Affairs, and supervises the ethics programs in the remaining Department components. Each component has a Deputy Designated Agency Ethics Official who is responsible for administering the ethics program within his or her component. As a summer intern in the Departmental Ethics Office, I provided support to the department staff. Filed legal ethics cases, copied documents, researched case law references, answered the phone, and discussed the law and ethical issues with Acting Director Stuart Frisch. Attended ethics proceedings and looked up records for the director. Used the ethics library to research the Federal Codes using Lexis-Nexis.

Project Title: Escherichia Coli (E. Coli) -v- The Environment. Research Question: Can a bacterium that affect humans as consumers also affect plants as producers? The Agricultural Research Service is the principal in-house research agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is one of the Research, Education and Economics agencies charged with extending the Nation's scientific knowledge with 22 National Programs, with research projects in agriculture, nutrition, technology, the environment and other topics that affect the American people on a daily basis. Did research on tomatoes. Dr. Hammond is an expert in plant genetic engineering and co-authored the article �Viroids! From Scourge to Boon in the 21st Century?� Honorable Mention, Biology, Eleanor Roosevelt High School Science Fair.
