A Melody
by Barbara Philbrook

Within my heart there plays a melody,
it assures that my God really does love me.

It reminds me when I am feeling sad and blue,
that though undeserved, God loves me too.

Now there are times a thought will interrupt, to cause me doubt,
then up pops my melody to drive it out.

God sends reminders daily into my life,
reminders that He will relieve all tenseness & strife.

There are the flowers that brighten each new day,
and beautiful visions to send grief away.

There are rainbows after each and every storm,
while appreciating them I remember being kept from harm.

There are the insects so busily running about,
one day I'll have such energy I have no doubt.

There are the clouds formed way up high,
promising a refreshing rain will be dropping by.

The stinging insects are also a delight to me,
they remind me one day our life will be pain free.

Hunger makes me aware of the food I'm given,
death of another gives me gratitude for the life I'm living.

Sorrow reminds me of the happiness of another day,
and getting lost makes me appreciate that I found my way.

A melody that makes me see good even in the bad,
a reminder that my life with God is better than what I had.
