CHAPTER ONE

“Oh please, X’Nedra, won’t you do that for me?” J begged. “I’ll make a fool out of myself..!”
“Should have thought of that before.” X’Nedra replied harsh. “Now it’s too late.”
J sighed. After the lads had been nagging him about not having a girlfriend for so long, asking him if he lost the touch, he’d told them that he DID have something going on. Thing was, it wasn’t entirely true. Or actually, entirely not. And now he had to prove it by taking someone to the number one bash tonight. He was trying to convince his mate X’Nedra to come with him so he could fool them, but she didn’t really want to. “They’ll never know, X’Nedra” he said. “I mean, you’re from Donegal and stuff, they never saw you before, etc. PLEASE PLEASE.”
“Yeah, there’s this one tiny problem, J. I’m gay, remember? “
“They don’t need to know.”
“J, lies always surface. And I’m planning to live here in London a good year, remember? Do I’ve gotta pretend I’m your girlfriend all the time? ‘Cuz I ain’t doing that.”
“Course not. I’ll just say we didn’t work out, and you don’t like have to see them all the time.”
“Alright then. But I still think it won’t work Jason Brown.”
“We’ll see miss X. We’ll see.”
X’Nedra shook her head. She knew J for quite some time now, their parents were good friends. At first she had hated the very manly egotripper she thought he was, but when X’Nedra had come out for being gay he’d been very nice to her and he and his parents had helped her parents accepting it. She’d do a lot for him, but she hated lies, because her experience was that they always seemed to pop up one way or the other.
“Hey, X?” interupted J her thoughts.
“My name’s X’Nedra, but yes?”
“What are ya planning to do here anyway?”
She rolled her eyes. “I’ve told ya a million times. I’m working with me dad at Virgin. I wanna be a producer too, ya know that.”
“You’re working wirth the enemy!” joked J laughing, and X’Nedra grinned as well. “Well as soon as YOU offer me a deal, I’ll be right over at RCA.”she replied.
“Well we do need a assistent producer, actually” replied J.
“Oh no. Two reasons: one, I’ll be seeing YOU all day. Two, you said I didn’t have to see your mates after the party tonight, so I’m not.”
“They aren’t that bad, X. You’ll like ‘em.”
“Sure. Right. I’m convinced I will” she answered sarcastically. “I love male ego’s. I love Monday morning boosting about their newest gal. Yeah…”
“X, you’re being unreasonable again. Well, thanks a LOT for helping me out tonight and then we’ll see okay?”
“Whatever…” she replied, angry with herself for getting involved in something again…
