Match Report Rangers Vs Mustang Sallys

The game started in the usual fashion, the toss was lost and we were in for a bat. Undies didnt seem to mind as he stretched out for an afternoon siesta but for Elliot and Micheal B it meant a ramping up of heartbeats and brainwaves (Elliots heart and Michaels brain). OP 1 asked Elliot how he was feeling and all that he could reply with was a faint gurgling sound.

Much to everyones surprise the openers performed masterfully; denting the new ball attack with Elliots prods and swishes and Mickeys lusty drives and elegant flicks off the pads. Finally with the score on 101 Elliot at last went for probably the widest AND highest delivery of the day and his innings was over caught behind for 29. Mickey Baldwin (lesser known brother of Alec, Billy and the other ones) continued to be the headline star, Sallys had no answer to his game and the only resulting tactic they could employ was to bowl slower and slower until he needed to take a packed lunch to get through the over. Finally he couldnt wait any longer and was bowled for a run a ball 72, his highest score for the Rangers and a wake up call for the rest of the comp.

Now if Mr. Baldwins innings was a wake up call than Cameron and Gihans was a nuclear warhead to the private parts. Quite unbelievably after a single sighting delivery they both proceeded to hit 6s and 4s at will, making the bowlers look like broken pop-guns. Nothing was impossible for these two as the drove, cut and slashed the Rangers score past 200. Cammo struck a devastating 67 (49) and Gihan a demoralizing 36* (19) and both could of already booked a ticket to Melbourne if their 1st game form is anything to go on. Their scores catapulted Rangers to their second highest score in the one day format of 245.

After some jam and scones the boys were fired up for a full on bowling and fielding experience, and boy did they show it!! The fielding was top notch; bindies were forgotten, new gear was irrevocably stained and man love was definitely in the air. The enthusiasm was electric as the boys came together behind the bowlers and gave 110%.

Undies was (as usual) getting the ball to go places that the batsmen never knew existed and Cammo was at his miserly best. Rhys without doubt the Ranger with the most nicknames seems to have added a yard of pace and amazingly missed out some close chances to get a bag full. Special mention goes out to our marquee import Gavin whose sphincter shrinking pace had not only the batsmen hop-skip-and-jumping but also 1st and 2nd slip who saw balls break the sound barrier just inches from their outstretched hands. The bowler of the day was Gihan with an amazing alround effort snaffling 4 wickets and had Mustangs No.1 batsmen Kohn stretching for answers.

Although Mustang Sallys final score of 207 got close in the end the Rangers were deserved winners and have greased the wheels for a big test next week against a potent Ned Flanders side. A big hats off to Luke Kohn with a one man stand of 92*, a class player and a nice fella to boot should be a Ranger. A big congrats to both teams on some great wins and more importantly a great time as well.
