WILL GO DOWN IN RANGER HISTORY FOR:
*Hits an amazing 96, calls out for his score then gets out next ball! Wouldve been his First 100
*Makes up for it, taking 6-41 in the same game, best figures for a Ranger in both forms of the game. This kid is only 16!
*Claims the clubs first hat-trick on his 17th birthday.
*Represents QLD at the Churches Nationals in his debut season with Churches
The Rangers fees increased dramatically this year to allow the first overseas import to play for the club. With a base rate of $42 000 for the season, excluding match and sponsorship earnings, his personal manager specified the pay bracket to cover costs such as; private car hire, date money, massages, manicures and most importantly weekly hairdresser appointments.

After the official signing, press release and photographs, Varun went on to break record after record in his debut season. He was the first player to take 6 wickets in an innings, in which he did twice, first to take a 5-fer in a one day match, First Ranger to capture a hat trick, holds the record for most runs by a batsman in a premiership season, most wickets by a bowler in a state shield season, first Ranger to represent Churches Cricket at the Plunkett Cup level, in which he captured a horde of wickets in his debut match.

Varun also holds the record in the club for the worst half century conversion rate as he racked up five 40+ scores this season and became the first player to be dismissed in the 90s. He also holds the record for the most amount of hairstyles in a 3 week period. Varun has also instituted within the club the notion of never asking for your score when approaching a milestone and also raised the sales of gangsta black music amongst the players.

However the pinnacle of Varuns ability came when he was selected in the Queensland squad for the Churches National Championships held in Adelaide in December. The youngest player among the 6 teams by far, Varun excelled in his role as the teams allrounder and cleanly upstaged players more than twice his age with his probing line and length and astounding powers of concentration and aggression with the bat. Varuns performance helped carry QLD each game, none better than his 4-43 against eventual competition winners, Southern Districts and his competition record 8th wicket stand of 54 against South Australia Gold in which he scored a staunch 36.

Amongst the multitude of talent and class Varun holds, he just happens to be one of the nicest guys in the team, unless you misfield off his bowling, in which you will receive a lot of gangsta like words thrown in your general direction. Affectionately known by his teammates as Fitty through his crisp fielding prowess and commitment given to every delivery, Varun has gravitated and immersed himself towards the Ranger culture through sledging of teammates, dedication to his game and a genuine interest in his fellow players

A player who will go down in the chronicles of Ranger history as a young, fun, cheeky person and a player who actually looks like he knows what hes doing,  we hope to save enough money to sign him up for the remainder of his cricket playing years!
