1st Burra Scout Group

For the past few years we have been running the 1st Burra Cub Scout pack for both girls and boys from the ages of 7 and a half to 11 years. Our activities have been based around the Burra area and include camps, sleepovers, video nights and lots of fun games. Cubs' regular meeting night is Wednesday, and it goes from 7.00pm to 8.30pm at the Burra Hall. The Pack has managed to thrive despite a (lingering) lack of leaders.

We have some fantastic news for all the local kids aged from 10 and a half to 15 years of age, boys and girls . . . Burra will now have a Scout Troop, with the first Scouts' meeting to be held on the 1st June 2005. The 1st Burra Scout Troop will meet in the Tennis Club Pavilion at the Burra Park, starting at 7.00 pm and going through until 8.30 pm on Wednesday nights.

The focus of Scouts is slightly different from Cubs - being older kids they are able to include even more outdoor activities and adventures and the emphasis is more on encouraging the kids to get involved and help to shape their Pack's activities.

Scouting is fun for all ages and it's a great place to meet others who live in the Burra community. As the community develops we hope that the 1st Burra Group will grow too and be able provide scouting for even more age groups.
