Germany Visit
In 1997 the 1st Kendal
Parish Church Bays Brigades Band Played for a Music Festival in
Kendals Twin town, Rinteln in Germany. We played in Rinteln,
Hamlyn amongst other Towns and Hotels and holiday parks. One of
the first times we played we were playing in a town called
Hamlyn, where the Pied Piper story originates from. We marched
into the main square and people just converged into the market
place. We were told afterwards that is the busiest that they have
ever seen the market place we also played at some hotels and
holiday parks whilst in Germany. Of course we also played in
Rinteln for the Music Festival. We played on the stages during
the day, below you can just see one of these stages.
While we were over in
Germany it was extremely hot, I at the time was the New Bass
Drummer at the time and part of the Uniform is a Lepoard Skin,
which on in the winter months keeps you nice and warm, when I
took the lepoard skin in Germany I was rarely dry.
After we had played
for the first three days in Germany the remaining three days we
had a number of activities laid on. One day we went to Potts Park
which is a theme park over in Germany. We also visited Hanover
where we went shopping for the afternoon. We also went up
Hanovers Town Hall to see a birds eye view of the City. Amongst
other activities we went swimming at least two times a day in the
Rinteln open air swimming baths, and they let us in for free.
Hopefully we may be going back withn the next few years and we
have been told that we can use the school to stay in, so
hopefully in the next few years this page may be saying in 1997
and 2002 we went to Germany.
