The McDonnell Aircraft Corporation F4B Phantom II was transitioned into the Squadron along with a change of Homeport from Cecil Field, Florida to Oceana, Virginia. The Squadron flew 940 combat sorties in Southeast Asia with the F-4 Phantom without a lost of aircraft or aircrew.
