Starting about August of 1973, some of the new Swordsmen reported to NAS Miramar in California to begin training on the F-14A TOMCAT, later in December the Squadron returned from the Mediterranean and was transferred to train at NAS Miramar, retiring the F-4B Phantom II.In 1974, VF-32 returned to NAS Oceana Virginia with the TOMCATS to do carrier quals aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). During this thirty-two year era, the squadron has received many distinguish awards along with a few intense encounters.The Swordsmen with the F-14 Tomcats have a proud tradition of service with honor and dedication. November 1, 2005 the Swordsmen will continue to meet the new challenges while transitioning to the F-18 Super Hornet, committed to excellence, and are proud and ready to go where duty calls.Visit the Official VFA-32 Swordsmen website.
An earlier VF-32 was established during WWII. There was a Fighting Squadron 32 that served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. The VF-32 pilots was flying the F6F Hellcats onboard the USS Langley (CVL-27). Squadron was known as the "Outlaws".Click Here for more details
