Courage is the candleI must keep alight
Through the deepening darkness
Of the night.
I must keep it burning
With a steady flame,
As a white star ever
Shines the same.
I must watch it closely
Lest it flicker out,
Blown by some assailing
Wind of doubt.
Courage is the candle
God put in my hand;
I must guard it more than
Love or land!
