Summary: Cliff is a master vampire. Enough said.

We finally got out to catch our next meal. Each of us went into a different direction to hunt. However, we could not leave Randy alone yet; he was still too vulnerable to attack. Therefore, we each took turns staying with him as the others went to feed. It was Jasons turn to stay with him. He didnt mind at all. He has full intentions of telling Randy a few stories concerning our shared histories.

I hope he doesnt scare him.

Too much.

A SECOND REBIRTH

It took several weeks to get to the mages castle. Poor James couldnt ride for more than an hour without screaming in pain and we still had to ride at night because Jason was unable to stand to sunlight still.

Finally, I went, covered from head to foot, into a small village alone during the day. I head straight to the wagon maker and coerced a small covered wagon from him.

Damn, I do love being a vampire at times.

Once night fell again, Jason and I hooked our horses up to it, headed to a near by haystack and filled the wagon with sweet smelling hay. We went back to the abandoned hovel we had been staying in and got James up into the wagon. He gave a dishearten groan as he burrowed under the cool hay to be protected from the burning sunlight.

Then we were able to travel many miles at night with my and Jasons horses pulling the wagon and James horse hooked to the back. Now we were able to travel without having to worry about getting to a cave to rest during the day. All we had to do was pull of into the woods, picket the horses nearby so they could graze, and sleep in the wagon under the hay.

It was another two weeks before we reached the castle. During that time, James slept almost all the time. Even at night when he shouldve been hungry, he slept, and it had started to show. We could count every rib and back bone without having to try very hard. We tried everything to get him to eat. From begging to threats, but nothing worked. He was still trying to heal from his injuries and just had no strength to eat.

One night, however, I came up with a plan to save the life of my lion. It was risky, in fact, it could kill both James and me, but there was no other way.

A few nights later, I went out and fed twice as much as I normally did. When I returned to the wagon I sent Jason out to hunt. He knew I was planning something but he just didnt know what. If he did, he would have stayed. However, I needed complete and utter peace, so I got him to leave.

I then sat beside James and ever so gently brushed his long blond hair out of his face and kissed him on his hot forehead. Trust me little one, I whispered as I pulled him into my arms. He could no longer speak but he gave a soft whimper when I nipped at his left ear lob. I moved him until he was leaning against my chest and cradled in the crook of my right arm. Then I took my knife, slit my left wrist again, and gently wiped some of the warm liquid on to his lips.

He tried to pull away but I was holding him too tight. He knew what I was going to do, he knew the risks, but he was too weak to stop me.

A second feeding.

A second chance at life.

*Thirty Minutes Later*

I laid back still holding James tight in my arms. I was so very tired but it had worked. My beloved lion was hungry again. Right then, however, he was content in being held tight and having his head stroked in a familiar pattern.

Jason came in a few minutes later and I told him what I had done. He was shocked to say the least. I thought you said that we could never do something like that because it could kill both the donor and the recipient, he snapped as he glared at me. I couldnt help but chuckle as I gently pulled him down beside me.

No, what I said that it *might* kill both vampires involved but if I hadnt James would most defiantly die from starvation. You wouldnt want that would you? I asked in a soft voice as I rubbed his back.

No I wouldnt. I just wish you had told me. What wouldve happened if someone had come along? They would have killed the both of you.

No one did, I answered as I settled back in the soft hay, Stop worrying and go to sleep Jason. Well head out tomorrow night after we all feed. Ok?

Jason nodded and then asked in a very soft voice, James is going to be all right now right?

Yes Im going to be fine, answered James as he leaned over and gently kissed Jason on his forehead, Go to sleep Jason.

For the first time in weeks, we all were able to sleep soundly through the day. And that night, well lets just say my beloved lion was able to hunt at the top of his abilities again.
