A Walk in the Park

Silence
Silence in the morning
Darkness
Hiding the light
Footsteps
Echoing...Beckoning
Calling me forth...

I can hear your children playing
I can hear the joy in their tongues
I can hear the birds chirping...
As my fingernails grow numb
Choking on the earth
That is being dug
The wall grows thin
Between our worlds...

Numbness has embraced me
And has allied against
Allowing me to fight
Against the demons that bind me
And so I dig...
Deeper and deeper
To the sky.
