Innocence

Standing under the pale gray sky
Surrounded by thick, moist air slowly flowing around me
The trees cold and still with watching eyes
I search for my beloved...

The distance I had traveled was all for nothing
For the distance between us is immeasurable
I search for my beloved among the scattered towns of our youth
Isolated within jagged fences...

The longer I search, the more I accept this fate
Walking along through rows of people's past
It is hard to stay happy with these things
When the grass is so green and flourishes from them...

The dirt paths lead nowhere yet display the ultimate fate
A gallery of loved, hated, tragic, and triumphant
All reduced to the same prison, side by side
Without hopes or dreams to comfort them...

I search for my beloved among these people
Among these scattered slabs of stone
But, alas, I have found her:
"Innocence: We will miss her: 1982-2000"...
