Sleep

With nothing left, I cry
Torn from happiness, my life plummets hopelessly
Neverending sadness is now accepted
As a fact of life, sight, sound, and touch.

Oh, how sleep beckons...
The warmth of irreality...
Another world to cloak the old
An answer for my dilemma.

Endless sleep to end all pain
To end all life, is my last hope
Loneliness stabs into the back of my neck
Blackness floods the sink...

My head ascends to the sight of myself
Drowning in life, choking on reality
My body descends into the watery depth
The sea of darkness...

Soft, pale skin, decorated, splattered
My eyes open wide as the glass shatters
Shards of liquid, dripping death
As I awake to face a new day...
