Branches "Bullish" on
Financial Independence for Girls Program

Ten AAUW branches signed up for the Financial Independence for Girls project which is being sponsored by an Educational Foundation Community Action Grant. Melbourne started its FIG program on January 7 at the Satellite Senior High School. It will run for 8 sessions in 5 classes of 30 students per class. Naples' program kicked off on January 15 at the local PACE Center for Girls, Inc. Northern Palm Beach County began its program on January 18 at the Teen Parent Center in Riviera Beach. In addition, Miami will begin implementing it for the Charlee program in early 2000; Venice Branch is working with Big Bros/Big Sisters and Girls, Inc., and plans on a March-April, 2000 date; Stuart Branch will be working with the local PACE Center and plans on 8 consecutive weeks in January-February, 2000; Gainesville will implement at the local PACE Center and Lofton Center in early 2000; and Orlando/Winter Park Branch will be working with an alternative school. The Suncoast/Carrollwood Branch has been contacted by a group of women at Citibank in Tampa who would like to take over the program in Hillsborough County, starting with a Spring 2000 program at the local PACE Center.

Congratulations to all these branches!! Look for articles and pictures in the next issue of FloriVision.
