Deaf School were an eclectic group of musicians/students who formed in the mid seventies and produced three albums, this by far being the best. With three vocalists and so much input from the rest of the band they came up with diverse range of quirky, witty songs. Again this is an album that takes time to get into but it is well worth the effort. There is not a bad track on it and no two are the same. The musicianship of the band is very tight and they work well together with some very effective sax and guitar solos that match the mood of the songs. The majority of the songs focus on the humorous aspects of relationships and perhaps provide a witty insight to ourselves.

Album Tracks

What A way To End It All
A fast tempo opener with witty lyrics about someone who doesn't really want to end it all and clever use of the vocals that make this clear.

Where's the Weekend?
A bouncy beat, a great tune with all the singers swapping lines, some in French. Everybody is hanging out for the weekend to come around.

Cocktails at Eight
A clever song with a slow drawling start, clever lyrics about a guy waiting for his date, then the frantic finish when she doesn't show.

Bigger Splash
Slow verse it's "Just a melodramatic song" with a fast catchy chorus.

Knock Knock Knockin'
A fast tempo 2/4 rocker with a great beat, the usual tempo changes, a catchy melody, good vocals and fine guitar work.

2nd Honeymoon
A slow tempo powerful ballad with strong lyrics. Picks up tempo for the fade out. A superb track that deserves to be the title track.

Get Ready Set Go
A fast rocker with lots of tempo changes and vocal interaction. Good sax solo.

Nearly Moonlit Night Motel
A lovely, quirky, bouncy melody with lots of tempo/vocal changes again. A humorous song about a couple trying to have a romantic night out. I love the line about signing the hotel register as "Mr & Mrs Devine"

Room Service
A wonderful slow emotional ballad with superb vocals and lyrics. A beautiful tune that shows off the song writing talent of these guys.

Hi Jo Hi
A short bouncy 2/4 up-tempo song with a witty conversation going on over the top.

Snapshots
An aggressive rocker with a great guitar solo from Cliff Langer and a good sax solo from Ian Ritchie.

Final Act
A beautiful, slow, sad, ballad to finish with superb vocals from Bette Bright. You just have to hear her hit those high notes.
