The Vacaville, Northern Californa band established themselves next to major metal bands such as Korn and Limp Bizkit
with Infest, there first label debut..Born in 1993 by friends Jacoby Shaddix aka Coby Dick (headvocals), Dave Buckner (drums) and Will James (bass) with Jerry Horton (guitar) not a long time after.They choose the name after Coby's grandfather, and adopted the cockroach for the resilience and longevity symbol.With the influence of Faith no more and RATM behind, Papa roach became one of the greatest attraction on the Northern California music scene, their energic shows, realistic and spit-the-rage lyrics attracting a young fans. In 1994, the band's first long-player Potatoes for Christmas, was released on their own label.Tobin Esperance was brought into replace James (bass). Their second album, Old friends from young years started a prominent hip-hop influence,with Coby Dick often rapping verses of songs.The album was a local hit and after The 5 Tracks Deep and Let 'Em Know EPs were released before the band signed a major label contract with DreamWorks.Infest, that included re-recordings of many old songs perfected the band's rap-metal hybrid.Coby's lyrics cover the usual concerns of youth generation band, including suicide (Last Resort), alcohol and drugs (Binge and Thrown Away), divorce (Broken Home), materialism (Between Angels And Insects).A seconc album's next, called Dissection
