DROGHEDA IRISH SETTERS

Memorial to a friend ...

NINA COSTELLO

    October 29, 1957 - October 3, 1992

Nina and her beloved "Ritchie"

Nina's career "in dogs" began at the age of 9.  At that time, she obtained her first collie, Sinaway's Laddie, and joined a 4-H Club named "Paw Prints".  The 4-H Leader, Edith DuBois, was an exhibitor of English Springer Spaniels.  After they attended a Westminster KC show, Nina became hooked and a lifelong devotion to dogs was born.  Shortly thereafter, she began exhibiting in Junior Showmanship.  Subsequently she became a Professional Handler of Herding and Sporting dogs and a Professional All-Breed Groomer.

Her entry into the "Irish Setter" world was through Professional Handling.  She began handling for Bonnie Ingram of Winfree Irish Setters.   Nina became friends with many of the Irish Setter Club of Delaware Valley, Inc.  club members and was very supportive in helping the club hold our first specialty.

Always willing to lend a helping hand, she was confidante, advisor, critic, and above all, a true friend.  At the same time she was pouring her heart and soul into helping you with your project, she would be lovingly telling you what a "pain in the ass" you were.  As another friend so aptly put it - "I would give a million bucks to hear her call me a 'pain in the ass' again".
