Tabou to Release New Single
Tabou Combo has left for Martinique on June 30th, 2004 where they will be touring for the couple of weeks. While in Martinique the band will take the opportunity to record a new single. The single should be release sometimes in August.
Tabou's Album is Scheduled for October
Tabou Combo's upcoming album is scheduled for an end of October release. There will be a minimun of 9 songs on the album. The fans should expect a few hits on the album, and the lyrics will be more substancial. The title of the album is yet to be comfirmed.
Tabou Combo Under Fire
Tabou Combo was hashly criticized for their performance at the Miami Kompa Festival. Although the band played very well, many people thought the band was well too predictable. "No surprises, same routine, same songs," complained the fans. "Tabou has played Mabouya, Zapzap, Lakay, and Tabou Mania in every performance for the last four years, and we are just tired of it," said a couple of guys who attended the festival. Another person said "Tabou doesn't even try anymore." A couple of people said of Tabou: "For a band that has so many hit, it's funny that they keep playing the same songs over and over again." Some people went as far as asking the promoteur not to invite Tabou to next year's festival. The leaders of the band, however, defended their performance by saying that the band wasn't given enough time to perform, so they had to leave some songs out. They have also promised to work on incorporating some other songs to their repetoire.
A Hot Summer Dish For All TC's Fans
With an album due to release in the Summer and some superb festivals/concerts scheduled, Tabou will provide a steamy hot Summer dish for its fans around the world. The program actually starts in the spring with a trip to Curacao on April 26. Then, on May 15, the band will be in Florida for the Annual Konpa Festival. On May 22, they will entice their fans in Paris at a big concert at the well-known Zenith Theater along side Tvice and Carimi. On the 30th of May, it will be the turn of fans in Brooklyn to enjoy the band at the "Le Grand Mechant Festival." Next, on June 5th to be precise, TC will be at "La Nuit des Grands" along side Les Skah Sha and System band. Stay tune for more Summer TC concerts.
Tabou Combo's Upcoming Album
According to a Panamean Website, Tabou's upcoming album will be entitled "Obligation." It is understood that the band will dedicate a song to Panama to show how grateful they are for the warm welcome that Panamean people have given them during their recent tour in Panama. Apparently, the song will be written by Former Tabou's vocalist, Panamaen born, Afredito, famous for the song,"Fiesta" that he sang with Tabou Combo in the 80's. This will not be the first time Tabou has written a song about Panama. Back in the 90's, they dedicated a song to Panama called "Panama Querida."
