Record Relase Party
July 17th, 2004
@  The Chain Reaction, Anaheim
Cattle Decapitation's latest record Humanure is a big step up from their last offering, To Serve Man. During their second record release party in Anaheim they played the full album all the way through and showed once again how amazing they are live. These songs are great on CD but seeing them presented live is a totally different experience.
We missed the opening acts on purpose, this was Cattle's night afterall. I did manage to see a song or two from Eyes of Fire. They werent anything special but certainly didnt suck. Somehow the band is going to be touring with Danzig and Mayhem on the Blackest of The Black Fest. So after a few minutes Cattle setup and went straight to work. The singer had a broken wrist but still went all out in his performance. Growling, shrieking and making all sorts of ungodly noises and faces on stage and even chatting a bit in between songs.
Apparently the band was having some audio troubles during the first few songs but I couldnt tell. I was so taken back by their energy and watching the melee unfolding in the pit that some slight technical difficulties didnt even register. I did notice the drummer and how much louder he is in the mix live than on record. After they played all of
Humanure they played two more older songs before finishing off with "The Decapitation of Cattle." Great show, great live band...go see them on tour with The Black Dahlia Murder and later with Deicide if you can.
