Decapitated - The Negation
Decapitated's The Negation is one of the best straight up death metal records I have heard in a long time. I said the same thing about thier last album Nihility, and at this rate I'm sure I'm going to say the same for their next record too! As good as their last release was, their new one blows it away.
I had to force myself to listen to Nihility repeatedly because even though I liked what I heard, the songs never grabbed hold of me like the ones on
The Negation do. This CD just won't leave my damn player. The opening track "The Fury" lives up to its namesake with its sheer brutality. Big complimants to Vogg for crafting such lethal riffs and to Vitek for his awesome drumming. Its like the guitar rips you to shreads while the double bass pounds you into dust. Vogg also holds down his reputation for being a mad guitar genius. His solos are mind blowing.
Sauron's voice has improved and sounds much more menacing and filled with absolute rage...THIS is fucking hostile. Also, Martin on bass is actually audible on this record and adds to the thick sound unlike
Nihility where I couldnt hear him for the life of me. I have been spending alot of time lately with metalcore and death/grind bands and almost forgot how good it is to sit back and unwind with a high quality, 100% death metal album. This is record is a dream come true for all the die hard technical death metal heads. Picking my favorite songs off The Negation was a hard task since every track is killer, but I'd have to say you cant go wrong with:

The Fury
Three-Dimensional Defect
Sensual Sickness
The Negation
