BT Campbell


Benjamin Talbot "B T" Campbell, 102, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at his home.  Papaw was surrounded by his family.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1906, the oldest of eight children, to the late James Franklin and Rose Etta (Stewart) Campbell in Leander, TX.  He moved with his family from Austin to Waco, TX in a covered wagon.  After recovering from paralysis caused by Diphtheria, he gave up attending school to help support the family.

On May 23 1931, he married Mary Lucille Cunningham.  She preceded him in death on April 4, 1995, one month before their 64th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by one daughter, Alice Frasier of Crowley, TX; one son, Sterling Campbell of Fulton; nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren with another due to arrive next month.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bob Campbell and one infant daughter, Mary Ruth; three brothers and four sisters.

B. T. was employed at Cameron Mill in Waco for over 40 years as Dept. Superintendent. 

B.T. was a member of Southside Baptist Church.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #48 in Fulton, Past Patron of Eastern Star Chapter #35, member of York Rite Masons and Past High Priest of Orion Chapter.   His family, church, and Masonic family were his social circle.   A one-of-a-kind gentle man who would go out of his way to help his fellow man.

B.T. served as Worthy Patron of Fulton Chapter #35, Order of the Eastern Star in 1994 and again in 1996.
