Use large ashtrays. Look under cushions for burning cigarettes before you go to bed. Keep lighters and matches away from small children so they can't find them. Have the chimney checked and cleaned regulary. Use a metal fireplace screen. Keep portable heaters away from people and combustibles. Use special outlet covers to keep childrens fingers out. Allow air space around TV and stereo to prevent overheating. |

Don't overload the outlets. All electrical appliances should have a testing lable. Have appliances repaired if they arent't working right. Water and electricity combined cause shock. Keep hands dry; don't stand in water. If an appliance gets wet, have it serviced. Don't store things over the stove. People get burned reaching. Turn pot handles so children can't pull them down. |

Don't smoke in bed. Buy a smoke dectector and install it outside your bedroom. Plan two escapes from each bedroom. Don't overload electrical outlets. |

Get out immediately, Don't try to grab your possessions they can be replaced you can't. Have a pre determined place for every one in your home to meet so every one can be accounted for. Call the Fire Department, Don't asume some one else has. Give any information you can to the fire department to your location of the fire and what is burning. |
