RAKU 2001
Mr. V telling us what to do with the trashcans and giving us the over view of everything and how to get this started
My Japanese teacher, Mr Mitchel. He's explaining to us how to make glazes... I have a picture of him holding a bag of powder showing what the glazes looked like, but you couldn't see his face so its not up here.
We had to fill a garbage can 3 inches full with rocks/sand... then we'd load it full of saw dust or pine neadles... that way when we take the pots out of the kiln and we throw it in the stuff, it changes the glaze color with all this natural stuff...
After the rocks we put in the sand...not much though, cause we already had 3 inches of rocks
Before you do anything like loading the cans, you must have kyle bless them by placeing them on his head, yes, kyle has been blessing these can's for thousands of years, he's a god so he never dies.
For those students not working on raku, you made posters welcoming the fukui students... lovely laura here is chosing out some paints for a poster
NO!!! THE HORROR! that poor chrismas tree... *shniffle* in its prime.... as I said we filled the cans up to the top with pine or sawdust... so we could get a diff effect on the pots.
Heres dan and bruce making the mixture to put in the glazes...
heres more of that!! hehe... wait a day and I'll try and get the ones of us glazing and or firing our pots, and my finnished pot.
