NEW AS OF 7-9-03:
Jerod's '62 Nova
Basic Facts (last updated 6-12-01)
A '68 American Motors AMX. The AMX has a 390 ci motor, four speed, 4.10:1 posi, Holly 600 Double pumper, and an old school Edelbrock aluminum intake. I'll be ripping it apart soon to find out what the specs are on the cam and heads. I have a set of "dogleg" exhaust port
heads which I plan to build for it.
My '71 Nova
In the Beginning...there was a crunched fender and a door that wouldn't open:
The project:
The result:
The latest: New Crane 1.5" Roller Tip Rockers.
It had a stock 250 ci six cyl. and Powerglide trans. I swapped to
a Fresh 305 ci motor; it has the Edelbrock Performer manifold and cam kit from Summit.
Cam specs:
Lift - .420 Int. .442 Exh.
Duration at .050" :
204 deg. Int. 214 deg. Exh.
It has a Performer intake and Carter AFB carb. Stock bore and stroke. The heads are
stock 305 heads with valves at:
1.720 Int. and 1.300 Exh.
It has Rhoads lifters. These are variable duration racing lifters.
Motion Desktop Dyno puts the motor at 270hp. I changed the stock Powerglide to a TH350.
The TH350 leaked badly so I swapped to a TH400 which a friend donated (Thanks Dale!).
With a B&M 2400 stall converter it burns tires nicely now.
Paint was done by Shawns Body Shop in Salinas. It is a silver with gold and blue flakes in it.
American Racing rims.
My best time in the quarter mile is 15.4 sec., but with a Carter AFB 625 cfm carb.
I recently purchased the Sniper NOS from Summit.
My best time in the quarter mile with a 100hp shot of juice is 13.6 @102
I couldn't believe the performance change that it made. NOS RULES!!!!!!!

After
OOPS!
I tossed my '63 on its lid while driving drowsy.
I crawled out and walked right into a barbed wire fence that I couldn't see in the dark, therby sustaining my only injuries (deep flesh wounds with a rusty fence).
