AN:  THIS is what listening to a song called “Dead Things” does to you. THIS is why whoever is faint of heart should be very careful when selecting soundtracks to purchase from your local Sam Goody’s. THIS is why I am hereby stating that Philip Glass is a genius.

“I mean,” said the man, Alan Fulbright, “I can’t just go into her mind like that. I have to have her permission.”

“You idiot, it’s implied that she gives you permission! Of all people, of course she’d let you in!” She raised a fist in front of herself, not in a threat but in an unconscious show of passion. “Are you going to let her die?”

“She isn’t dead. We all know that. All that’s left to do is let her find her way back.”

“And if she can’t do it by herself?”

“Her mental strength is way above average.”

“How dare you say you love her?” Her whisper cut more deeply than a yell could have. “You aren’t even trying! You don’t deserve her! You don’t deserve —”
