ADONIS

A man says yes without knowing
How to determine what the question is
And he is taken and he is carried
And never again leaves his cocoon
And it is this way: we are falling
Into the well of other beings
And a thread comes and ties our necks
And others find our feet and then we cannot
We cannot move except inside the well
No one can rescue us from other people.

It seems as if we don't know how to speak
It seems as though there are words which flee from us
Which do not exist, which have gone away and left us
To ourselves, with our snares and with our threads.

The card depicted a handsome man in a costume much like an old fashioned kimono, elaborately devised of gold and red and silver. His hair was long and silvery, his eyes golden also, and so he matched his clothing, and the red draped walls of his room, quite nicely. He sat upon a burnished throne and he held in one hand a delicate fan and in the other a silver cup filled with darkness. He was smiling.

Even in the Courts of Chaos, not much is known of the man called Adonis. He is a great sorceror, and seems to be unnaturally altruistic in most of his dealings. Beyond that, he is known to have close ties to Osric and to Faolin Barimen.
