Shock Resignations and Attempted Murder
Well that got your attention!
Those of you who have been following the tales of Tim and Claire will be saddened (or relieved) to hear that there will be no more tales.
In October 2002 the Cathedral Society spent five days on the Ilse of Wight. Tim did not have a good time and came back feeling very unhappy and not a little angry. Things calmed down a bit and life went on. Then, in Sept 2003, the Society went to Liverpool for three/four days. Tim then went ill. Vomiting in Toxteth, the works. He really should have gone to hospital but was sick and didn't feel up to it. He did manage the ring at Pierhead and the Cathedral on Sunday. David very kindly accompanied him on the seven hour drive home.
Hopefully there will be some new tails at some point but they may not be on this page.
Staverton - A Wonderful Six
The try-out was on 30th November and the result was far better than expected! While it would have been difficult for the bells to have been worse the improvement is impressive to say the least. They are now a fine easy going ring that will rumble along at very silly speeds. The tone is excellent. After the initial test a band of six ringers from Exeter Cathedral, all friends or employees of Nicholson Engineering, rang a course of Cambridge Minor. The result? Andrew Nicholson spent the rest of the evening with a smug grin on his face. A large number of Call-change ringers from local towers also enjoyed the restored bells and many expressed surprise that such a great improvement were possible. Hopefully some other towers will now be inspired to invest in the future and restore their own bells.
The Tenor weight after tuning is.........................I can't remember but it's something like 19-3-14!

The Devon Bells Web Directory is Dying
The project is STILL in trouble. If it is to happen the the following are urgently needed:-
1 Details of bells in Devon. Weights, notes, dates and founders.
2 Details of towers. Ground floor ring? Central tower? Unusual access?
3 Photographs of towers and bells.
If you can help please send any information or photographs (jpg please) to
