Plot: Under the orders of Sebastius Nefar, an abomination named the Borrower hunts for the magic gloves, while Gully searches for her missing friends.
Some things are evil for a reason, and the Borrower is one nasty mother with a purpose: "gloooooves". The creation of a necromancer, it abuses life through death, using the people it's killed as hosts for its dark quest. Oh, and it can animate graveyards.
Gully looks like one of the most innocent kids in the universe, the way she's drawn on the cover, and she really is, despite having gauntlets that could take the smell out of an outhouse. Joe Mad draws the gloves twelve sizes too big for her, and with great purpose, because not only is she young, but inexperienced. She's not a warrior, like her father. She doesn't even know the limits of the gloves' power. But everybody wants 'em, so she has to keep them on her arms' length.
Two guards, keeping watch at the castle gate, almost outshine the story's heroes, thanks to their equally different poses and dialogue. They're just two guys, doing their duty, and outlining their ambitions. And then they bite the big one, after the Borrower catches them off guard, and literally bites them back. Poor lads; they had much promise.
Looking for the redhead who continues to grow her own watermelons? All you'll see of her in this issue is some of that red hair, normally kept in a secret place, under key and lock. Red Monika and Garrison have a past, and the knight will stop at nothing to hunt that girl down, with that paring knife of his. Sorry, G-Man - you won't be carving any fruit with that thing today.
