Papal Proofreader

The E.U. constitution, almost real,
filled with the promise of goodwill and hope,
has one remaining obstacle -- the Pope,
although he fear his pen won't change the deal.
He browses through the protocols. He's tense,
concerned about the things he thinks he'll find,
despite the fact he's almost deaf and blind,
he hears and sees the truth. No more pretense.
No faith is mentioned. Specially not his.
He rustles through the pages, starts to worry,
a deadline is approaching, he must hurry
before his Alka-SeltzerTM starts to fizz.
No notion of his church, the Word, nor God.
He shakes his head and then begins to nod.
