Beginning Monday February 5th, 2001 we will have online classes for beginners in genealogical research.
Times will be 7:00 PM- central standard time on Monday nights and daytime classes will be also be held. Day of the week and time to be announced later. After each lesson, the notes for that class will be posted on this site for future reference.
Please come prepared with paper copies of pedigree charts and family group sheets. If you need forms, pedigree charts, family group sheets, etc., you can download them from a number of places on the internet Below is one of the URLs for charts and forms , or, you can copy from this page. It is important to start with paper copies in your quest for your ancestry. The reason: most people are very visual, & when you have it in front of you on paper, you can then see what you need, decide your goals, and where to go in the next step of researching.
Most of us use a genealogy program for storage of information. If you do not have one on your computer, go to http:// www. familysearch.org/ -[ link below] and download the Personal Ancestry File [PAF]. This is a free software program from the LDS Family History Center and has been in use for a number of years. |
