WILL OF JACOB DECOU


BURLINGTON COUNTY, WEST NEW JERSEY; 1736

In the name of God, amen, I Jacob Decou of Mansfield in the County of Burlington in the Province of West New Jersey Yeoman being in perfect health and sound in memory do make this my last Will and Testament this 28th of June Anno Domino 1735 in manner and form as followeth. Imprimis. I give and Bequeath unto my son Isaac one White Mare in compleating his portion. Item. I give unto my daughter Susanna Five shillings having heretofore given her her portion. I give unto Rebecca my daughter Five shillings it compleating her portion. I give unto my son Jacob Five Hundred and fifty acres of Land lying at Pequais, I give, to him and his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Ester one halfe of my moveable or Personal Estate, and the other half to my son Eber. Likewise I Give to my son Eber the Two Hundred Acres of Land I now live on and his heirs, and if no Heirs arise then to my son Jacob his Heirs and assigns forever. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth five shillings it compleating her portion - memorandum - my daughter Easter shall divide the Household Goods and have them to her liking. Item, T give the thirty pounds to my brother Isaac which he got of John Hogg of Holden he being my Fathers' Trustee the money belonging to me notwithstanding my said Brother got the same by a forg'd Letter. Note what any of my sharing or giving to any of my Children in my Lifetime shall be free and Clear to them and not liable to be praised by my Executor.

I constitute and appoint my son Isaac to be my sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament and therefore after Debts and funeral charges be paid I order that my said Executor pay Likewise all the Legacies within twelve months aftermy Desease.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

In the presence of Rob't Bland the twenty first of the twelfth month 1735/6 Jacob Decow declared in the presence of us whose names are now under written the above written to be his alst will and Testament to his full satisfaction.
