Amy walking through vineyards from Fixin to Couchey
For the last weekend in September, after weeks of rain and chill it became obvious that there was to be no climbing for my birthday. Talking with our new friends Simon and Amy, who run the Bumble Bee restaurant in Chamonix, we found that Amy's and my birthday were exactly one week apart, with the weekend falling in the middle....Seemed like a perfect time/reason/season to pack up and head out on a road trip to bond with our new friends by going to the Bourgogne region of France for the grape harvest.
This is where Burgundy wine is grown.....and bottled and tasted and worshipped. It has been thus since around 700AD.
We ate and drank too much, and came home with more bottles of wine than we promised to limit ourselves to - felt like total yuppy bastard tourists.....but we want to do it again.
