Daniel Bushnell Dec'd Will
From Trumbull County, Ohio Wills, vol. 1, pages 57 - 59.
I, Daniel Bushnell of Hartford in Trumbull County and State of Ohio being of
sound mind and feeling the uncertainty of this mortal life I esteem it my
duty to set my house in order before my tabernacle of flesh shall be disolved.
To make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following. Viz. I commend to God my soul who gave it hoping for a blessed
imortality beyond the grave through the merits of my Redeemer and
I assign my body to the grave, to be buried in a decent Christian manner.
1st I order that my funeral expenses be paid and all just and legal claims
against my estate be paid out my personal property and debts due the estate.
2nd I have deeded to my beloved wife Eunice fifty acres of land in leiu of
her thirds, which is all the land comprising my present premises and farm
where I now live, for her own use, out of which I bind her, the said Eunice,
or out of the personal property I give her to pay to my youngest son Benjamin
two hundred dollars provided the said Benjamin lives and works faithfully
for & takes care of her, the said Eunice, til he, the said Benjamin, is
twenty one years of age. I further appoint her, the said Eunice, to be his
lawful guardian til he is twenty one years of age which will be two years
from July 1842. I further give unto my wife Eunice all the goods and
chattels of every manner and kind on the above named premises to her own
proper use and behalf, except five hundred dollars which I bind her, the said
Eunice, her heirs, executors or administrators to pay over to my first wifes
children or their heirs or guardians when her, the said Eunice has done
using it for her own self, which is to be divided in the same proportion among
them according to the following division I now make for them. I give and
bequeth to my son George W. all my right and title to and in the old meeting
house at the center of Hartford done off with pews. 3rd I order that all my
property not yet bequethed and settled should be divided among all my
children or their heirs in the following manner after my estate is settled
and the expenses paid for the settlement. 4th I order that the heirs of my
eldest son Lewis, my grand children George and Lewis should have but five
dollars each on account of having done more for him than for the rest of my
sons. 5th I order that all my sons except the aforementioned or their heirs
have two show cocks each equally divided among them or their heirs. 6th I
order that all my daughters have one show cock each, that is one half as much
as my sons, equally divided among them or their heirs. 7th I hereby
constitute and appoint George W. Bushnell and Joseph Bushnell Executors of
this my last will and testament.

of January in the year of our Lord 1842.
