Is there a famous quote by somebody somewhere about greed consuming a person's soul? If it's not written down in an easily-digested packet, then maybe this story will help drive that idea home.
This is my first Secret of Mana-based story. I took too long to finally get one finished. Anyway, this story basically (read: hopefully) speaks for itself. If you're familiar with the original plot of SoM, and know who the greedy King Manmon of Gold Isle is, then you'll probably like my take on what happens to him after the events in the game.
