G.L. Brackett
G.L. Brackett moved to New York City in 1990 after living in England for 5 years. In Big Trouble is a collection of songs played in the NYC scene since then.
The songs compiled in In Big Trouble range in genre from folk to progressive rock, and the musicians on the disc hail from all over the country. They gathered in the meat-packing district in NYC in the mid-nineties at The Place (Stratosphere) to record through the night while Dizzy Izzy's lit up the late night streetwalkers before the sun woke up.

G.L. Brackett has played music in England and America and first recorded a version of Blake's "Songs of Innocence & Experience," produced and released in England in 1989. In the last few years, he has played up and down the East Coast, often with the Mighty Manatees Medicine Show (www.mightymanatees.com).

What you will find in the songs included on this disk is a strong sense of the American song tradition, through Dylan and Guthrie, where lyrics are held by melodies like roots are by soil. Brackett is attracted to the rough mysticism of these writers (as well as the likes of Marley), and feels they are a connection back to writers such as William Blake, whose writings were a fusion of vision and image unmatched in his period.

We hope you enjoy, and that you one day find yourself In Big Trouble.
