Angelica Pamintuan Tribute
Here's a tribute to a very lovely Filipina woman named -- you guessed it! -- Angelica Pamintuan.   Here are a few facts.  Her figure is 34c-24-34, and she is 5' 6".   She has been hostess of MTV Asia, has been featured in about 20 music videos, has been a lingerie model (I believe, for Playboy), and has had photo shoots appear in Latin Sensations magazine.  These photos were shot by J. Lekas in Hawaii as part of a calendar shoot.
But she has gone down for the life of day
           caress of butterflies
kindness of birds
            she has decided against eternity
for the touch of fish
             or an animal's tongue
and the weight of a man is no longer agreeable to her
her star has festered from the start
while he has been turning the world--

The distances
she has preserved all this time,
death-tick of watches
               now measure stone     snake skin
rare orchid blossom
               and he writes
to preserve her life
               to seal her liberty
to encourage her lovers . . .
And of her going
               melting away
assuming new shapes
               fitting herself to other bodies
of her fresh interests      in the cause of other loves
               her departures          her arrivals
unknown to him in the night
                           there is no more end
than there is to mountains
white sheets washed in the lakes
                          blue sheets in rivers
           pillowslip on the wind
                              mattress in fire
this is the bed of life       beyond description
saying                      do you believe
                  the only shore worth knowing
there is no other

and come she said come       into this living room
                          the center of the house
                          the locket of my arms
I'll make such brews as peace is made on
          saying              do you believe
this angry zeal      this searing love
                            is our geography
Poetry by Nathaniel Tarn, excerpts from "A Nowhere for Vallejo"  1970.
Music is "chagasau" by Tom Jobim, a Brazilian composition.
