She attended a famous drama and performer's school on Okinawa. Four girls from that school created the rock group "Speed" in 1997. This group was an instant hit, selling 2.3 million copies of their very first album. When Speed kicked off, Takako was only 14 years old.
Takako in Speed was just a back-ground singer and dancer. When the group broke up in March of 2000, Takako was not expected to excel. But she surprised everyone by recording a solo album that produced two super hits. One of them, "My First Love," is the back-ground track for this web page. Suddenly, of the four girls who comprised "Speed," Takako jumped ahead to become the most famous!
The latest chapter in her success story is her dramatic role in a new Japanese television drama called "Shinjyuku Boso KyuKyutai" which is a story of firefighters and an emergency center. The show is somewhat similar to the American hit show, Rescue! Takako plays the part of the student nurse. The show is produced by the Nippon Television Company (NTV). Takako Uehara is 17 years old as this page is being designed. Very shortly, on 14 January, she will turn 18. Let's all wish this very talented young lady a very Happy Birthday!

I was misled by some individual who wrote to me claiming to be Ms. Uehara. Perhaps the misunderstanding was partly my fault also.. The person had a "uehara_takako" domain name to the email, which made me think the person was Takako. The person also used a "Takako Uehara" autosignature block. It was apparently just a fan of hers.
Anyway, now that the page is done, I will let it stay up. Ms. Uehara is great after all.
