In researching our heritage, we find that all types of mechanical equipment has been a large part of our heritage.  The earlier settlers had their farm equipment; and those in later generations became acquainted with the newer advances in science.  Here we present a small sampling of our "planes, trains, and automobiles."
In my merry Oldsmobile - we'll take quite a spin,
if we all can get in!
"Grandpa Snazzy" and his flying machine
The year was probably 1912, and Lena (Paulina) Ladwig was behind the wheel of her automobile.  Also in the photo are her mother Elizabet Sack, her children  Walter and Lawrence on the running board, and Margaret and Clayton; together with a cousin or two.
During the post WW II years in the 1940's, the people in our country became fascinated with airplanes.  Harold Ladwig took his Curtiss Jenny on tour with flying circuses across the Southern states.

Wilbur Ladwig was also a small aircraft pilot.  He is pictured here with his plane and his parents, William Adolph and Marie (Hoth) Ladwig. (Possibly taken in the mid 1940"s)
This Ladwig family resided in Newport, WA.  There are no living descendants .

A recent memo from the descendants of Frank Krause tells us that several of their family members also enjoyed flying.

Perhaps they will also have photos to share with us here.
