FV4205 Chieftain AVLB

This vehicle was originally designed to lay either the No. 8 or No. 9 bridge. The vehicle pictured here has a No. 8 (scissors) bridge. The alternative No. 9 bridge is a one piece 13.4 m length bridge. The first vehicles were taken into British Army service in 1974, following a long gestation from 1962.
